What to Expect
Seeking out counselling for the first time can be a difficult decision and a formidable step. When you seek professional assistance with personal problems, a caring therapeutic relationship can help you gain the reassurance you need.
When you walk into the office at Steinbach Counselling, we want you to know that you are important to us and that your concerns will be taken seriously. You do not have to walk alone in your struggles. You will find a compassionate collaborator and a safe place to work through your issues.
During your first session, your counsellor will ask you a series of questions in order to get to know more about who you are and what brought you in for counselling. You will also be informed about the basics of the counselling process and have an opportunity to address any questions or concerns you may have. We will begin to set goals and plan future appointments. Length of treatment will depend on the nature and intensity of issues being addressed and on how you approach your personal work. Continuity of treatment is an important part of gaining all the benefits of counselling, so please plan ahead in scheduling appointments.
